History of our Church

1950 - Pastors and area laymen met in concern over the lack of a Baptist witness in Jackson.

1951 - Small prayer group of less than 20 people met faithfully.

1952 - First formal business meeting to call Virgil Fitch as the first pastor. The Church was officially incorporated; leaders were elected.

1957 - Bruce Young accepted a call to become the next pastor.

1963 - Myron Holmgren became the next pastor.

1968 - Donald Douthitt was the next pastor.

1971 - David Cripe accepted the call as the next pastor.

1982 - Robert Chapman served as our pastor.

1987 - Bill Robertson became the next pastor.

1999 - Jon Campbell served as our pastor.

2003 - Doug Standerwick served as our Interim Pastor.

2007 - Steve DeKok is the Pastor since April 2007

God has allowed over the years for growth, and change in location. First Baptist Church has a desire to minister to the Jackson community and also send people into the rest of the world to give out the good news of Jesus Christ and eternity in heaven.
